Does she know
How lucky she is
To be loved by a man
More gentle, more compassionate, more selfless
Than any man born of woman—
Does she know?
Can she see
What he endures at her hand—
Apathy, neglect, ingratitude,
Assuming he will always be there for her?
And he will
Because he loves her
With a love she does not deserve.
Does she know?
Does she know
How much I love him,
And how I long once more to stand
Before him, take him in my arms at last, and fill the void,
Make him the center of my universe—
Does she know?
Would she change if she could see
How she has left him unprotected?
Though he never will betray her,
Nor could I demand it of him,
For to yield to selfish pleasures
Would be to fail.
Love never fails.
Does she know?
