Just Breathe

Just breathe
if only to
drink in more life
knowing you will survive, once
again, ignore the knife
if only to
just breathe

Thoughts:
We go about our work and play everyday, never giving a thought to the breaths we take. But sometimes, for some of us, breathing takes center stage. This is how I feel today. Asthma has been kicking my tail for days now, and every breath is both a blessing and a curse. But since I have no sense that my time is short, I’ll keep on breathing through the pain, knowing that this too shall pass. As I recently heard a comedian say, “I would’ve enjoyed it more, had I known I was going to live through it.”
