Why Is My Mother Laughing?

When I was young and fancy-free,
I thrived upon diablerie,
Though mother took me o’er her knee.
Now older, I have come to see:
God gave me children just like me!

This is my Whyquain, written for the 5-Line Poetry Challenge, Week 2: Whyquain.
