Welcome to my new series, Incremental Poetry, where each week the featured poem will be one line longer than the one I share the week before. I have no idea how long I’ll keep this up, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Thank you for stopping by.Â

Six-Word Memoir
I have now forgotten where the idea came from, but it is not original with me. Someone somewhere suggested that I summarize my day in exactly six words, and I kept it up for a little while. It’s not as easy as it sounds. If you don’t believe me, try it.
About the Poem:Â
When I was looking back on the fifty one-liners I’ve amassed, trying to decide which one to share with you, I was amazed at how readily the memories flooded back, triggered by these pithy phrases. This one is my way of saying, “No pain, no gain,” and it refers to the healing process after my car accident, for even physical therapy—healing—is painful.
