The Fire Went Out

She lay contentedly in his embrace,
Her sluggish eyelids drooping in the
Aftermath of love, then shifted
And snuggled more closely, for
The room was waxing cold.
Embers’ glow faded.
She closed her eyes,
And then the
Fire went
Out.
