the side of me most people never see
The children all too soon will grow
And make their own way in the world.
The empty nest
Will then be our reality.
But will we know
How to behave as two again?
Be lovers like when we began?
We’re truly blessed—
Unfettered from youth’s selfish tragedies,
With love refined, we can each other please.
