Tranquility

A substantial gift in a fortuitous minute
A word of praise from a trustworthy friend
The confidence of knowing that God is in it
The good night’s rest when the day’s at an end
These are the things that bring us good cheer.

But the grief over loved ones to God gone away
The loss of a job when it seemed so secure
The sleepless night after troublesome day
The dark, lonely path when each step is unsure
These are the times that prove God is near.
