Be Still

Be still, my soul! Keep silent.
You roaring waves, lie down.
Take rest in hope—your patience
Shall someday wear a crown.

Be still, my heart! For waiting
Shall soon have its reward.
Your grief betrays your longing,
But joy shall be restored.

Be still, my tongue! Keep quiet.
Your time of rest’s not done.
But when my God is ready,
The unseen end will come.

Be still, my love! Keep hoping,
Let hope your faith refine,
And trust that God Who loves you
Will free you in His time!
