Almostness

Being with you, and yet not being
one with you creates a burning
that would surely consume me
if not for the hope that
one day the waiting
will be done—the
almostness
torments
me

6/29/17 — A nonet is a poem of 9 lines in the which the syllable count is important while rhyme is optional. The syllabic count for each line is 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

This poem was inspired by a made-up word I discovered online: almostness.
