Rain

Raindrops umbrella, Milton (1b)Sun hides his face
Permitting privacy
For the clouds that swell and spill
A gentle rain

My mood is moot
For whether glad, or mad, or sad,
The rains will come
Like bane and blessing
Night and day

Learn to find comfort in rain.

Written in response to Kim881’s Quadrille challenge at d’Verse Poets’ Pub. This week’s theme is “rain,” and so fitting because there has been so much of it lately. This is my first Quadrille.

  1. I love the way the sun defers to the clouds ‘ swell and spill / A gentle rain’. The sibilance conveys the sound of rain beautifully. I also like ‘My mood is moot’ – great use of assonance to give voice to the mood!
