Together in the Distance
a
gentle
hum
somewhere
interrupts
the still-
ness
of a
lonely night,
and threatens to
distract me
from my
thoughts
of you.
oh, but they
cannot
be
discharged
so
soon,
for you
and
I are
one spirit,
apart
for
a time,
but closer
together now
than ever
before—
the
distance
accomplished
the deed
when
nearness
failed.

This form seems to evoke a soothing cadence as the lines gently increase and decrease, so it is suggested that the topic also be soothing.
I doubled it to form a verse with 38 lines.
Delightful. I especially like the ending.
