The Air Was New

Revolutions moved her
across familiar roads
to the place her heart called home—
but home had changed…
and so had she.
Faces, houses, trees all looked the same,
yet the air was new.
She wondered
if she had lost a year
or a lifetime.

Written for Quadrille Monday #71, for which the theme is CHANGE. It’s not Monday anymore, but better late than never, right? 🙂

A Quadrille is a poem written in exactly 44 words. All other elements (rhyme, rhythm, etc.) are at the discretion of the poet.
