Orange, yellow, white
Milk of cow or goat
Made within the mold
Let it age a while
Mild to extra sharp
Serve with crackers
On a sandwich
In a salad
Or by itself
Hard or soft
Laced with holes
Crumbly, smooth
Well aged
Creamy
Cheese
Written for #OctPoWriMo, and I chose to write about cheese in response to Elsie Hagley’s lovely poem about this yummy dairy product. She quoted G. K. Chesterton as saying, “Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese,” so I wanted to join her in breaking the silence. 🙂

Diminishing Pentaverse
origin unknown
A pentaverse is a 5-line poem with 5 syllables per line.
Therefore, the Diminishing Pentaverse begins with a stanza having 5 lines of 5 syllables, and decreases down to 1 line of 1 syllable.
Total length: 15 lines
Syllabic structure: 5-5-5-5-5, 4-4-4-4, 3-3-3, 2-2, 1
Unrhymed
Note: There is also a Diminishing Hexaverse, which is 21 lines in length. It begins with a 6-line stanza of 6 syllables and diminishes to 1 line of 1 syllable.
Love it, thanks for a follow up. I like that.

I will try and write these two forms during the month, for the poetry challenge. Happy days writing poetry.

Good. I think you’ll like them. The lines don’t have to be lists. That’s just what I chose to do. Happy writing to you too!

Thank you, Jenna. I like it too. It’s a fun form, not too easy, nor too difficult.

I wrote my own attempt at this form. Unfortunately, it was a little too late to post to DVerse, since it has to do with the “comfort smells” theme.

Don’t you hate it when that happens? I’ve missed it by just a few minutes sometimes. But you can still share it tonight. Thursday is Open Link Night—no prompts, just whatever you want to share.
