On This Earth

Life is a joy—
every year,
every day,
every second,
a privilege not granted to all.
Of earth I am,
of earth I shall become,
when my journey is complete,
when my purpose is fulfilled,
when I have made a difference
on this earth.

On Monday Kim from Writing in North Norfolk hosted Quadrille #63 in the which she challenged us to write a poem of exactly 44 words on something pertaining to the earth. With so broad a topic, there has been great variety in the responses. Mine is about making a difference, because in my dash, whether for many or one, that is what I hope to do.

And of some have compassion, making a difference” (Jude 22).

    1. When I was in high school, my teachers constantly told me that the younger students were watching me, to see the choices I would make. That instilled in me a sense of responsibility to do right, even when I would rather do something else.

    1. Well, it’s not all enjoyable, but it is all a joy. 😉 I wouldn’t call a car accident “enjoyable,” but meeting the wonderful staff at physical therapy, and seeing progress in my healing, has been a joy. Going to a funeral is not enjoyable, but seeing the gratitude on the face of a friend when you hug them, and they know you took the time to come and show how much you care—that brings joy.
