I fear that I shall not long bear in mind
Memories I thought we’d always treasure;
But life’s uncertainties can seem unkind—
You and I have had more than our measure.
I’ve loved you without ever asking why.
Darling, we have been each other’s pleasure,
So do me this one favor ‘til I die:
With the cord of love retention tether,
Perchance this ill to sometimes nullify—
Help me to remember us together.

Thank you. I’m just now making my way through two weeks’ worth of comments, as I’ve been in Mexico. All my posts were scheduled ahead of time. I had a wonderful time visiting old friends and meeting new ones, but I came home sick. 😦 Hopefully it won’t last too long. At any rate, it’s good to be home.

What a tremendous compliment! I was deeply moved by the film and simply rose to the occasion. I also bought and read the book, then wrote another poem based on the book. If I ever write a novel of my own, I will owe part of my inspiration to Nicholas Sparks.
