Daddy Did

When I was young I did the things
That Daddy did.
Not everyone believed in me,
But Daddy did.
In time I came to understand
My life had purpose and a plan,
And I could grow to be a man
‘Cause Daddy did.

No one ever loved me more
Than Daddy did.
No one taught me right from wrong
Like Daddy did.
In time I came to comprehend
That every person has to die.
My grief extended to the sky
When Daddy did.

Two little boys around me run—
I’m Daddy now.
And they look up to me ‘cause I’m
Their Daddy now.
I hope they’ll come to understand
They have a purpose and a plan,
And they can grow to be a man
‘Cause Daddy did.
