Substitute Teacher

A substitute teacher came today
Your absence to fill
He put on a little matinee
And acted with skill

The lessons presented in his plan
Were not at all new
But how he applied them—man, oh man!
He’s better than you

He wanted to stay there in my room
But I told him no
For you’re coming back—so I assume
If not, tell me so

This substitute teacher knows his stuff
I’ll sure give him that
He isn’t you—you’re mine—that’s enough
Content with my pat
