Pretend Wife

A pretend wife am I—
My body belongs to you
But another man claims my soul
I sleep with you
Feed you
Care for you
Try desperately to make you happy
While my spirit flies freely on wings he gave me
He needs me
Wants me
Sees me
And I see him
A pretend wife am I—
The paper says I belong to you
But my real world is found in him
