My Heart’s Desire

You are the longing of my heart,
The apple of my eye;
I’m lonely when we are apart—
I cannot tell a lie.
My prayers for you each night and day
Ascend to heav’n above;
I ask God in my simple way
To give you all my love.

I want to go where God should lead,
At home or overseas;
And in each thought and word and deed,
My Lord I want to please.
I pray each day that God will keep
Both you and me from sin,
That we will ne’er forget the day
We gave our hearts to Him.
